Gillen Announces Grant Funding to Support Local Fire Companies

HARRISBURG – Rep. Mark Gillen (R-Berks) is pleased to announce $128,572 in grant funding has been awarded to six fire companies in the 128th District to assist with critical operational needs.
"Our local fire companies are the backbone of public safety, responding to emergency calls at a moment’s notice," Gillen said. "This funding is a direct investment in their ability to protect our communities and helps ensure they have the equipment, training, and resources needed to perform their duties safely and effectively."
The following Berks County fire companies will receive funding:
• Amity Fire Company in Douglassville: $15,246.
• Birdsboro-Union Fire Department in Birdsboro: $26,815.
• Cumru Township Volunteer Firefighters Association in Mohnton: $40,322.
• Friendship Fire Company No. 1 in Geigertown: $12,233.
• Monarch Fire Co. No. 1 in Douglassville: $13,955.
• Twin Valley Fire Department in Elverson: $20,000.
This funding comes from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This ongoing program supports vital projects such as the construction or renovation of fire or ambulance company facilities, the purchase or repair of equipment, training, and debt reduction.
